Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka shankar is an British and American sitarist. She also performs music. She is the youngest woman and also the first woman to be awarded the British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Sitar Shankar was the Indian young sitar singer. She is Ravi Shankar's pupil as well as his daughter. Her childhood was spent bouncing back and forth from London and New Delhi. At the age of 13 she staged her first performance in New Delhi. After that, she moved in Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Her career as a musician and performer is impressive, despite her youth. Her father has been with her on numerous occasions for some time. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. A year later, she dropped the Grammy nominated Live in Carnegie Hall. She's performed in all major venues around the globe. Her career extends beyond music. She released Bapi The Heart of My Life, in 2002. This is a picture biography which pays tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she appeared as a character in Dance Like a Man as the Bharat Natyam performer. Her career continues to grow and she'll continue to do many great things in the future. Anoushka Shankar is an English born singer who travelled her early years in London, Delhi and California. She started learning to play the guitar at the age nine and was a sitar player for the 75th anniversary of the birth of her father in Delhi just four years after. The father of Anoushka travelled the globe with her, and she was able to gain many new opportunities. As she was at her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. Her musicianship and talent was recognized by British Parliament as being among the top at Asian Arts.
